Horsepower Theraputic Learning Center

During the summer of 2024, New Garden Landscaping & Nursery dispatched crews to beautify and enhance the grounds at HORSEPOWER in High Point as part of our annual community outreach. We were delighted to receive a lovely letter in response!

Dear Matt,

Thank you so much for your support to HORSEPOWER and our community by donating your crew again to complete our landscaping needs. During the Volunteer Center Corporate Challenge your crew came out and spent several days working on our five-acre tract of land for our obstacle course. Then we were contacted and said that you would like and see what else you could do for us.

First, you sent out two crew leaders to assess our needs. Then came a crew who spent the day pulling weeds, trimming bushes, and putting down mulch. The landscaping around our office had a complete makeover. Then the crew came back to address our drainage, a problem that we had and didn't even know was causing the runoff. It was a beautiful thing to see.

That project was amazing, but it did not stop there. Next, your crew came out and cut down dead trees, pushed brush, filled holes, and made the woods of the five acres ready for therapeutic riding trails.

The first project of making the landscaping appealing helps our curb appeal. It is the first thing that everyone sees when they come to our facility. This is something that really helps lift the spirits of our staff and makes our volunteers and participants know that we care. It is not something that we generally have time for, and it certainly is not what we have the skills for. We appreciate you sharing your expertise on this.

The second project, the finishing of clearing and preparing the five acres for our therapeutic trails is something that will help us in the very near future. We are expanding our Veterans programs, and this space is exactly what was needed. A nice quiet safe place for our veterans to work with their horses. We can also use this space for our program that works with children of domestic violence. These kids have been through so much in their young years, a quiet, peaceful time with their horse is very healing for them.

We are so thankful that you have chosen HORSEPOWER as a recipient of your community support. Thank you so much for what you do for our community.

Sincerely,

Jan Clifford
